He worked as an accompanist for 12 years before he played for the Belgian American pianist Tedd Joselson and with Joselson’s guidance has been developing his distinctive pianism of sensitivity, refinement and imagination ever since. Season 2024/25 sees Zhibin Chiam performing at Music Fest Perugia in Italy and Season 2025/26 includes a solo recital at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Within 2 years of starting a concert career, Zhibin Chiam has played with the Orquestra do Algarve and the Orchestra delle Cento Città, played with the conductors Marius Stravinsky and Maurizio Colasanti, and has been signed by Price Attractions. His performances have taken him to Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Hong Kong and Singapore. His audiences have included dignitaries from the Embassy of Italy and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Singapore. A pianist of distinctive pedigree, Zhibin Chiam presently studies with Tedd Joselson and is an heir in the lineage of Vladimir Horowitz, Rudolf Serkin and Clifford Curzon. Kevin Matheson Violinist Kevin Matheson was awarded first prize in the 2021 Charleston International Music Competition for his performance of Vieuxtemps’ “Souvenirs d’Amérique.” Kevin Matheson, with his brother as violin-viola duo, received critical acclaim at their Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut as part of the Ibla Grand Prize competition winners’ tour. They have been recognized for their mesmerizing and spirited performances - two perfect virtuosos, playing as one. Their two successful tours to Japan included recorded performances at Yamaha Hall in Tokyo. Kevin performed Vivaldi’s Four Violin Concertos with the Irish Sinfonietta Orchestra in New York City and has performed Bruch and Mozart concertos with the Valley Chamber Orchestra at Hollins University. Matheson is a frequent recitalist and chamber musician on concert series throughout Virginia. Focusing on his music production, Yang has studied a wide range of repertoire and a great diversity of music by western masters. As a sensible composer, Yang has often been inspired by the harmony between all the creatures in the universe. A lot of his music ideas came to him when he was on his music tour. He was humming along on the way to Nashville, and his heart was singing when he was driving in the Appalachian Mountains. Yang says he enjoys being close to nature whether it is sunny or rainy; he feels the energy and harmony coming from everywhere. Rainer Stegmann Rainer Stegmann is a concert guitarist, composer and music educator. He studied in Frankfurt am Main at the Musikhochschule and at the Dr. Hoch's Conservatory. Rainer Stegmann performs as a soloist, in various chamber music casts and with orchestra. His musical focus is clearly in the field of new music. He wants to prove that contemporary music is not just for experts. Rainer Stegmann has performed numerous rarely heard contemporary chamber music and solo works for guitar. His CDs 'Soundscapes I, II and III' published by the classical label GENUIN received excellent reviews and established Rainer Stegmann as a globally respected interpreter of contemporary music. Rainer Stegmann has been active in composition since his youth. His teacher at the Frankfurt University of Music was Prof. Jürgen Blume. After that, he continued his autodidactically training, but also in courses, e.g. with Leo Brouwer. In his compositions, he often mixes different musical styles. Her album Heritage and Harmony: Silver Linings , featuring exclusively AAPI/BIPOC artists, aims to promote understanding and tolerance and combat racism, with all proceeds donated to an organization that supports the AAPI community and fights against racism. Recorded and released during the pandemic, the album has won two SIlver Medals from Global Music Awards- one for Outstanding Concept and the other for Outstanding Instrumentalists. This season, Donna is thrilled to be collaborating with Ariel Rivka Dance as Artistic Advisor to share stories of heritage and harmony through music and dance. In collaboration with WQXR, Ms. Weng Friedman created and produced Heritage and Harmony , a virtual concert video series in celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month. She is the co-creator and co-host of HER/MUSIC;HER/STORY, a mini-series on WQXR as well as a concert series that shines a light on women composers, past and present. She was the guest speaker on TEDx Santa Barbara’s series Making Waves: Conversations with Influencers and Disruptors. < Back František Brikcius Cello Learn More Videos About Czech cellist František Brikcius was born in Prague, into a family with a distinguished cultural background. He has been playing the cello since early childhood. Following his cello studies at the Prague Conservatoire, he completed his Master's degree at the Janáček Academy of Music (JAMU) in the Czech republic. He furthered his cello skills at the Toho Gakuen Academy in Japan and later under the guidance of legendary cellist Prof. Anna Shuttleworth (student of Pablo Casals) in the United Kingdom (Eton Cello Master Classes and the University of Leeds). He won the 2nd prizes at the Anglo-Czech Competition in London (1999), the International String Competition London (2000) and the International String Competition Jihlava (2003). He has been awarded many scholarships and fellowships, including the Czech Music Foundation (CHF), the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Music Foundation OSA, the Socrates-Erasmus, and the Gideon Klein Foundation for the propagation of works written by Jewish Holocaust Composers. František chose to dedicate his life to the interpretation of cello compositions written by composers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, giving special consideration to compositions for solo cello. His favourites are cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach, Max Reger, Ernest Bloch and Benjamin Britten. He is particularly involved in researching, studying and performing works by Czech (Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů, Josef Suk and Irena Kosíková), Jewish & Terezín (Gideon Klein, Erwin Schulhoff, Zikmund Schul, Jaromír Weinberger, James Simon and David Popper) and contemporary composers (Conrad Beck, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Benjamin Britten, Henri Dutilleux, Wolfgang Fortner, Alberto Ginastera, Cristobal Halffter, Hans Werner Henze, Heinz Holliger, Klaus Huber and Witold Lutoslawski), playing on a " George Kriwalski " cello made in 1904. Together with his sister Anna Brikciusová, he is a founder member of the "Duo Brikcius". František works as independent film-maker as well. His first music documentary film MAKANNA (in the cooperation with the Jewish Museum in Prague and under the auspices of Sir Tom Stoppard and Václav Havel) was already screened in the Czech republic, China, Mexico and Portugal. He is currently working on new music documentary film eSACHERe (2022). In 2023, he had the privilege to study under Professor Valerie Middleton at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. Cooper has won first-place honors in numerous international piano competitions and performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany. He actively shares his music with the community through piano recitals at local retirement homes, annual Christmas shows, and fundraising events for organizations such as the Dream Center. In addition to piano, Cooper enjoys playing the guitar and singing. He is an avid swimmer and competes on his school swim team. His interests also extend to robotics, coding, and engineering through Vanderbilt University’s enrichment program for talented youth (SAVY). He enjoys reading and building Legos and robots in his free time.
