< Back Andrew Krimm Violist Learn More Videos About Andrew Krimm began studying viola at the age of 7 in Dallas, Texas. In 2006, he began Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, studying with Erika Eckert and Geraldine Walther. In 2011, Mr. Krimm returned to Dallas to pursue a Performer’s Diploma at Southern Methodist University where he studied with Ellen Rose. While in attendance, Andrew co-founded the award-winning string quartet, Altius Quartet. During their residency at SMU, Altius Quartet won first prize at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, first prize at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and was awarded the Silver Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In the Fall of 2015, Mr. Krimm moved to Boulder to study with the world renowned Takacs Quartet. The Altius Quartet was awarded a three-year residency at CU-Boulder to guide the quartet through the creative and business aspects of having a successful career as a string quartet. In 2016 with the Altius Quartet, Mr. Krimm made his Carnegie Hall debut in NYC. The Altius Quartet recently completed two albums. The first was released in April 2017 featuring a mash up of many different genres including Haydn, Bolcom, a-ha, and Dave Brubeck. The second, to be released in October 2017, features Shostakovich's “Personal Quartets” Nos. 7, 8, and, 9. Both discs are being released by PARMA Recordings. After serving as Board President for the Western Slope Concert Series, Andrew became the Executive Director in 2018. In 2020 Andrew was also named the Executive Director of the Boulder Symphony. She has received great praise from conservatories and universities, endearing herself to her students and colleagues for her professionalism, dependability, and caring. Ms Danchenko-Stern is the FOUNDER OF THE RUSSIAN CHAMBER ART SOCIETY. Born in Russia, she was both a graduate and faculty member of the esteemed Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow. Her artistic and teaching career in the former Soviet Union has qualified her as a soloist and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists, and as a piano teacher. Ms. Danchenko-Stern lived in Toronto for 13 years and was on the faculty of piano, Royal Conservatory of Music, where she taught piano and the art of piano accompaniment for voice and instruments. There she became an experienced vocal coach. Now living in the United States, she specializes in coaching singers in Russian Art ongs and operatic repertoire. F or 30 years, Ms Danchenko-Stern was teaching "Singing in Russian" course at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. Since 1996 she is a Russian diction coach for Washington National Opera, as well as coaching the singers for its Cafritz Young Artists Program. She placed third in that same competition in 2018. In 2019, she placed second in the Ohio Jr. Music Federation all state (Ohio) and all instruments competition. She placed first at the Indiana International Guitar Competition in 2022. She has opened for the Beijing Guitar Duo at the Cincinnati Guitar Society as a soloist and as a duo with her duet partner. She has enjoyed playing multiple times at the Cincinnati Nature Center. She has performed in masterclasses with Martha Masters, Thomas Viloteau, and Mak Grgic. He studied piano at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, where in 2006 he earned the degree of Academic Musician–Pianist and Piano Professor in the class of Prof. Pavica Gvozdić. He completed postgraduate studies in chamber music in 2012 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, studying with Prof. Chia Chou. Through the Erasmus student exchange program, he pursued studies in electroacoustic music at the Institute for Electroacoustic Music in 2017–2018 in the class of Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Essl. In 2019, he completed composition studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb under Prof. Frano Parać. Throughout his education and professional career, he has been active as a soloist and collaborative artist, performing extensively across Croatia. Notable appearances include concerts with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Zagreb, and the Zagreb Youth Orchestra, as well as performances within the Virtuoso concert series, Krk Summer Evenings, the Epidaurus Festival, the Darko Lukić Young Artists Tribune, and the Osor Musical Evenings. His compositions have been performed in numerous Croatian and international projects and festivals, including Code:new and Code:new Goes Chamber, the Virtuoso cycle, Izlog suvremenog zvuka, ISA 2015, the Music Tribune in Opatija (2016), the Sebastian Quartet season (2016–2017), the bilateral project Year of Culture Croatia–Austria 2017, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and the Music Biennale Zagreb. In 2018–2019, with the support of the First Department of the Academy of Music in Zagreb, he initiated and led the student workshop Slušaonica – Music in the 21st Century, presenting and contextualizing diverse aesthetic directions in contemporary music. He studied musicology at the University of Vienna and music education, piano, and composition with Heinz Kratochwill at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, earning his doctorate in music in 1988. From 1990 to 2010, Brauneiss taught music theory at the J.M. Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt. Since 2004 he has served as Lecturer in Harmony and Counterpoint at the University of Vienna, and since 2006 he has held a lectureship in harmony, counterpoint, and orchestration at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig. Brauneiss’s principal research focuses on the Tintinnabuli style of Arvo Pärt, whom he has known personally for more than twenty years. The style’s characteristic reduction, structural clarity, and austere compositional methods have had a formative influence on his own musical language, which he often enriches with chromatic and even dodecaphonic elements within a tonal framework. His works have been performed by internationally renowned artists such as Gidon Kremer, by ensembles including Kremerata Baltica, and by orchestras such as the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich, and have been presented at major festivals including Wien Modern and the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival.

At the age of 10, she became the youngest musician to earn the Licentiate Diploma (LRCM) with Distinction from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has performed in major venues including Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York and has been recognized with numerous awards, among them the Sound Espressivo Globe Competition. In addition to her musical achievements, Antian was featured in CBC’s 30 Under 30 Canadian Classical Musicians and earned a bronze medal representing Canada at the 34th International Biology Olympiad. She also received a full scholarship to the Morningside Music Bridge program at the New England Conservatory in Boston.

In 2023-2024, performers will compete for in-person concerto appearances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as with other orchestras throughout the world. The “James Adler Audience Favorite Award” is presented during the Laureates Gala, and Mr. Adler, a known interpreter of Rachmaninoff’s music, serves as a judge for a special competition celebrating the life and music of Sergei Rachmaninoff. Mr. Adler made his orchestral performing debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has appeared in recital on the Orchestra’s Allied Arts Piano Series, and the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts Series. His appearances have brought him from Chicago’s Grant Park, to London’s Royal Albert Hall (broadcast by the BBC), to Thesseloniki, Greece, to New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Symphony Space, and the Paramount Theatre at Madison Square Garden. His extensive list of compositions is headed by Memento mori: An AIDS Requiem. Performed worldwide, recorded by AmorArtis Chorale and Orchestra, and published by Alfred Music, Memento mori features a “range of expression [that] is expansive” and is “a unique, well-crafted, emotionally rich piece” (American Record Guide). Other compositions include Reflections upon a September morn (poetry by Walt Whitman); Songs of Innocence and of Experience (poetry by William Blake); A Winter Triptych (Albany Records); Monday’s Child, performed at The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine and at The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Carols of Splendour, premiered at Carnegie Hall (“A cheerful, splashy tour de force, skillfully constructed and full of clever ideas,” The Choral Journal); It’s Gotta Be America, commissioned for the Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty; and Canticle For Peace, written for the opening of the 43rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (published by Colla Voce Music). Mr. Adler is also the composer of Concerto in G for Piano and Orchestra (published by Alfred Music), the children’s “pOpera” Herbie and Carnie: A Dinosaga, the Classic Rag-time Suite for orchestra, numerous solo, chamber, and choral works, and the award-winning film score for The Hat Act. < Back Previous Ibrahim Alshaikh Next Gala at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall June 28, 2026 WATCH VIDEO Ibrahim Alshaikh Palestinian clarinetist Ibrahim Alshaikh, born in 2004, began playing the clarinet at the age of nine. He studied at the Barenboim-Said Music School in Ramallah and, during the 2018–2019 academic year, was accepted into the “Highly Gifted” program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria, where he studied with Gerald Pachinger. Since 2015, Ibrahim has served as principal clarinetist of the Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra, an ensemble that brings together Palestinian musicians from diverse backgrounds and performs regularly both internationally and throughout Palestine. Among their recent appearances was a performance at the world-renowned Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. Ibrahim is also principal clarinetist of the Amman Chamber Orchestra in Jordan, making his debut with the ensemble in 2019. In 2021, he was accepted into the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin, where he studies with Matthias Glander, principal clarinetist of the Berlin State Opera. There, he has expanded both his theoretical and practical musical training, including regular chamber music studies with world-renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud. He is expected to complete his Bachelor’s degree in the summer of 2026. Additionally, Ibrahim had the opportunity to perform for Maestro Daniel Barenboim in both 2015 and 2023. In April 2023, he performed for Sir András Schiff, and in April 2024, he had the honor of playing for Professor Jörg Widmann.

< Back Previous Catherine Louise Geach Next Violinist Gala at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall February 20, 2025 WATCH VIDEO Born in England, Catherine Louise Geach began studying violin and classical ballet at the age of four, giving her first public performance a year later. She studied with Bernard Blay and Caroline Lamont before entering the conservatory. As a soloist with chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras, she gave her first masterclass at the age of five with Professor David Takeno (Guildhall School of Music), followed by studies from ages eight to fifteen with Professor Felix Andrievsky (Yehudi Menuhin School and Royal College of Music). At sixteen, she performed Elgar’s Violin Concerto as soloist at London’s Purcell Room. At fifteen, Catherine won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied violin with Professors Maurice Hasson and Xue Wei, and participated in masterclasses with Professor Zakhar Bron (Moscow Conservatory). She later performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto and also pursued studies in voice and piano, perfecting her singing technique in Italy as a light coloratura soprano specializing in Early Music. In 1990, at the age of eighteen, Catherine traveled to Cambodia during the civil war to compile a report on human rights violations by the Khmer Rouge. Entitled The Aid and War Report, her documentation—recognized with the Bernard Brett Peace Bequest (London)—was instrumental in demonstrating to the international community that the Khmer Rouge should not be seated at the United Nations. This report is now archived at the Cambodian Documentation Center for the Cambodian Genocide. At the request of the Cambodian Ministry of Culture, Catherine also gave concerts and taught violin at the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, following the loss of nearly 90% of Cambodia’s artists during the genocide. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 1991, she returned to Cambodia to continue teaching, having previously studied Khmer at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. In 1994, amid the ongoing civil war, Catherine founded and built the Kampot Traditional Music School for Orphaned and Disabled Children (Khmer Cultural Development Institute) in Kampot Province, with the mission of reviving and preserving traditional Cambodian music and culture while caring for vulnerable children. As its founder and long-time director, she continues to support the school’s cultural and humanitarian programs entirely as a volunteer. From 1996 to 1998, she established a Music, Dance, and Art Therapy Program at Mesa Selimović Primary School in Sarajevo, Bosnia, for children suffering from PTSD in the aftermath of war. The program became a permanent part of the school curriculum, sustained by local Bosnian educators. Catherine has translated and edited a book on Cambodian musical instruments for UNESCO and written extensively on the Cambodian War and Genocide in publications such as The Tablet. Her school received the UNESCO World Decade of Cultural Development Award (Paris, 1995), and she herself was honored with the Raoul Wallenberg Humanitarian Award (New York, 1999). She has lectured for UNESCO (Stockholm) and at Somerville College, Oxford University, on The Child’s Right to Culture and The Healing Power of Music. As a concert violinist, soprano, and recording artist, Catherine has performed internationally, including for the late Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City. She also performed as a Cambodian Apsara dancer at the Théâtre Bastille and the Opéra de Paris while on tour with her Cambodian students. Her stage credits include both singing and choreography for productions such as The Fairy Queen in Amatrice, Italy. Her solo album, A Wish for Love for the World (BAM Records, Switzerland, 2021), features Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin and sacred vocal works by St. Hildegard of Bingen. She has also appeared as violinist and soprano soloist on The Grey II–III (2021), Love Conquers All (2022), The MASS, and Embracing Sorrow (2022–23) by American composer Stephen L. Melillo. Their collaboration on Embracing Sorrow reflects a profound exploration of war, human suffering, and transcendence, inspired by Catherine’s volunteer work with the Ukrainian Diaspora in Rome. Catherine’s humanitarian and artistic work has been featured in BBC and ABC Australia documentaries, and on BBC Radio, Voice of America, and South African Radio. Her story has been the subject of major press features, including the Sunday Telegraph Magazine (1995) and Reader’s Digest’s Music of Hope (1999), translated into sixteen languages and distributed in eleven million copies. She has also given numerous interviews in Khmer for Cambodian radio.
