The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s mission is to place orchestral music at the heart of contemporary society and, through collaboration with creative partners, foster deeper engagement with communities to ensure that live orchestral music is accessible to as inclusive and diverse an audience as possible. To help achieve this goal, in 1993 the Orchestra launched RPO Resound, which has grown to become the most innovative and respected orchestral community and education programme in the UK and internationally. Early in 2025, the Orchestra will move its headquarters to Wembley Park in the London Borough of Brent; this will be the realization of its long-held ambition to embed the Orchestra in a community, in line with its mission to be a truly inclusive and contemporary international orchestra for the modern age. The Orchestra has always been entrepreneurial; in 1986 it was the first UK orchestra to launch its own record label and it has gone on to embrace advances in digital technology, achieving well over 50 million streams of its recorded music each year. The RPO’s global online audience engages with it through the website and social media channels, where the Orchestra shares streamed performances, artist interviews, ‘behind-the-scenes’ insights and more. Passion, versatility and uncompromising artistic standards are the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s hallmarks. As it looks forward to an exciting future with the patronage of His Majesty King Charles III and Vasily Petrenko as Music Director, the RPO will continue to be recognized as one of the world’s most open-minded, forward-thinking and accessible symphony orchestras. Registered Charity No. 244533 Previously Produced Albums Reviews: If Sant'Ambrogio hits the bull's-eye with the passionate side of Elgar in the first movement, she does so again with the interior musings of the third movement Adagio. If one interprets her stated intention to change the way we think about this music, she has succeeded in the sense that this performance is fresh as a daisy, passionate, intelligent, and mature... The performance is miraculous: Sant'Ambrogio finds true freedom in Wolosoff's generous lines (the cello dominates the musical argument here), while also demonstrating the ability to bend with the music at an instant's notice when the sound suddenly turns interior. --Colin Clarke - Fanfare Magazine This new release is a fabulous selection of famous soprano arias, linked by the universal themes of love and humanity. Highlights include arias from popular operas by Puccini, Verdi, Wagner, Beethoven, Giordano, Cilea, and Barber. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with acclaimed conductor Grzegorz Nowak are joined for this new recording by versatile British spinto soprano Katerina Mina to celebrate the strong, determined, and spiritual heroines of these well-known operas. This album also includes the world premiere recording of two lyrical pieces by contemporary Swiss composer Stephan Hodel. Katerina Minas crystal clear voice exploited the acoustics of St. Jamess Piccadilly perfectly, soaring through the building, down the aisles and up to the high ceiling. The singing was heavenly. -The Daily Express- Cadogan Concert Hall London Cadogan Hall /kəˈdʌɡən/ is a 950-seat capacity concert hall in Sloane Terrace in Chelsea in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London, England. The resident music ensemble at Cadogan Hall is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), the first London orchestra to have a permanent home. Cadogan Estates offered the RPO the use of the hall as its principal venue in late 2001. The RPO gave its first concert as the resident ensemble of Cadogan Hall in November 2004. Since 2005, Cadogan Hall has also served as the venue for The Proms' chamber music concerts during Monday lunchtimes and Proms Saturday matinees; it is also one of the two main London venues of the Orpheus Sinfonia. Cadogan Hall has also been used as a recording venue. In February 2006, a recording of Mozart symphonies with John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists was produced and made available immediately after the performances. In 2009, art rock band Marillion recorded a concert there which was released on the album Live from Cadogan in 2011. Building The hall is known for its stained glass windows by Arild Rosenkrantz The building is a former Church of Christ, Scientist church, completed in 1907 to designs in the Byzantine Revival style by architect Robert Fellowes Chisholm, who also designed the Napier Museum in Kerala, India. The stained glass is by the Danish sculptor and stained-glass artist Arild Rosenkrantz. The building was listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England in April 1969. The organ case by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd Organ The church had a three-manual pipe organ built by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd in 1907 and installed in 1911. It was on a raised position on the platform. The organ was removed in 2004, and the pipes in 2006. The original intention had been to install the organ in a church in the Midlands, but instead, in 2009-10, it was installed in Christ the King Catholic Church in Gothenburg, Sweden. Walker's organ case remains in place in the concert hall. Conversion to a concert hall By 1996, the congregation had diminished dramatically and the building had fallen into disuse. Mohamed Fayed, then owner of Harrods, had acquired the property, but was unable to secure permission to convert the building to a palatial luxury house on account of its status as a listed building. Cadogan Estates Ltd (the property company owned by Earl Cadogan, whose ancestors have been the main landowners in Chelsea since the 18th century; the nearby Cadogan Square and Cadogan Place are also named after them) purchased the building in 2000. It was refurbished in 2004 by Paul Davis and Partners Architects at a cost of £7.5 million. The changes included new lighting and sound systems and bespoke acoustic ceiling modules in the performance space.

Beethoven Symphony No. 3 Part 1 Continuing with our series of programs dedicated to Beethoven's Nine Symphonies. Today, Anna Ouspenskaya and Chris Ka Long Au explore Symphony No. 3. After watching part of the film, stay tuned for an engaging discussion. Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica, marks a decisive break from Classical convention. Monumental in scale and ambition, it expands sonata form, intensifies harmonic tension, and treats thematic material with unprecedented developmental weight. The symphony is driven by bold rhythmic motives, abrupt contrasts, and a pervasive sense of struggle and transformation. Originally conceived in a heroic vein, Eroica presents not triumph alone but conflict, loss, and hard-won resolution, establishing a new model for the symphony as a dramatic and philosophical statement. More about Architects of Music: https://www.youtube.com/@thearchitectsofmusic BEETHOVEN’S UNIVERSE In this ongoing series, Lawrence Rapchak examines each movement of Beethoven’s symphonies, revealing their inner structures and illuminating the architecture of each complete work. No other program about Beethoven’s symphonies has been created in this fashion, and it is our hope to present all nine of these masterpieces in the coming months. Beethoven Symphony No. 8 Part 9 Continuing with our series of programs dedicated to Beethoven's Nine Symphonies. Today, Anna Ouspenskaya and Chris Ka Long Au explore Symphony No. 8. After watching part of the film, stay tuned for an engaging discussion. Beethoven’s Eighth is compact, direct, and structurally tight. It uses clear motivic cells, abrupt dynamic shifts, and concise thematic development. The work often reads as a study in controlled wit and mechanical precision. Beethoven fondly referred to it as "my little Symphony in F", distinguishing it from his Sixth Symphony, a longer work also in F. The Eighth Symphony is generally light-hearted, though not lightweight, and in many places loud, with many accented notes. Various passages in the symphony are heard by some listeners to be musical jokes. Building relationship between musicians from all other the world: a great new way of sharing between all of us! Apply by November 30 https://www.soundespressivocompetition.com/home Olivier Chassain was born in Paris in 1957. He began studying the guitar in Limousin with Roger Généraux and completed his training with Carel Harms. In 1977, he entered the Conservatory of Paris (the current Cnsmdp) where he obtained in 1982 a first prize for guitar in the class of Alexandre Lagoya; he was also awarded a prize for counterpoint (class of Bernard de Crépy) and a prize for harmony (class of Roger Boutry). Today, his triple professional activity makes him lead simultaneously: a career as a concert performer, which took on an international dimension when he won the first prize in the "Guitar Foundation of America international competition" in 1988, thus becoming the first non-American guitarist to receive the highest distinction of this competition worldwide renamed. The following year (in 1989) he made a major tour organized by the GFA, across the entire North American continent: he was invited there regularly for concerts and master-classes, as well as on other continents. a career as a composer: he is the author of numerous works, in particular for guitar, such as: “ Fantastic echoes ” i n memoriam I. Presti and A.Lagoya , “ Etoiles ”, “ Arion ”, “ De loin en loin ”, sonata for two guitars (1995), “ Doigts de fées ” (2010) for flute and guitar, sonata for solo guitar (2011)…, and educational collections such as “ Patchwork ”, “ Ad hoc ”, “ Brèves de lectern ”(2012)… a teaching career which took off in Orléans in 1978, following his first teacher, Roger Généraux (he was established after obtaining his CA at the age of 21), and which saw its accomplishment when he was appointed in 1992 at the Jacques Thibaud Conservatory in Bordeaux, then in 1994 to succeed his master Alexandre Lagoya, as guitar teacher at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance (Cnsmdp), where he still teaches today. Olivier Chassain regularly leads, in addition to his conservatory lessons, instrumental improvement sessions within the framework of festivals, summer academies, as was notably the case in Dordogne from 1995 to 2010, at the Britten school in Périgueux directed by Jean-Jacques Rouveroux: this institute organized ad hoc courses throughout the year in all musical disciplines, and called on internationally renowned artists. Olivier Chassain thus had, for his summer internship, the opportunity to invite many friends, renowned guitarists, such as J. Cogan, N. Koshkin, SI. Fukuda, B. Kanengiser, D. Bogdanovic, SE Olsen, F. Zigante, L. Blanquart, H. Navez, Jim Smith. Since 2010, it has been organizing new sessions in Limousin, throughout the year. Olivier Chassain's repertoire displays a great eclecticism, from the Renaissance to the music of today. Passionate about early music, he has also devoted himself to the lute and the vihuela for many years, in order to transmit through this privileged approach the sound and the spirit of this music. He is also fond of French music from the Grand Siècle and romantic music, which he plays alone or in the company of eminent artists such as P. Gallois, Ph. Muller, P.-H. Xuereb, R. Pidoux, E. Aubier, F. Pierre, G. Millière ... Ardent defender of contemporary creation, Olivier Chassain is the dedicatee of numerous works for guitar (Stephen Dodgson, Antonio Ruiz-Pipo, Thierry Pécou, Sean Heim) and of concertos: "Escales" by Roland Creuze: created in Bordeaux with the ensemble Musique Nouvelle and Michel Fusté-Lambezat, as well as that of Edith Lejet, "Flowers in the shape of diamonds", from the concerto by Alain-Michel Riou, and more recently by Alain Margoni. Olivier Chassain has made several records, under different labels, including "Almost a song" (Metronome recordings) which was crowned with the "Choc" of the World of Music, and "Eventail" by the review Classica. An album devoted to the complete compositions of Ida Presti - the world's first recording -, in duet with the Norwegian guitarist Stein-Erik Olsen, received a rave reception from music critics (ranked in the 'top 5' of the 10 best albums classics of 2009 in Scandinavia), under the Simax label. Several other recordings are in the pipeline, including a second album with his friend SE Olsen, for the Simax label, in a repertoire of original works dedicated to the Duo Presti-Lagoya. Teaching young musicians is another of Fedor’s passions: he has taught students of different ages and levels, he also coached young violinists in preparation for youth and school orchestra auditions. Fedor loves methodical approach to teaching, and he has built a system of individual plans and written follow-up assignments which he gives to his students to help them make better use of their practicing time. At the age of 8, Fedor was invited to perform an Accolay concerto with McLean Youth Symphony Orchestra, since then he appeared as a soloist performing concertos with Loudoun Symphony Orchestra in Virginia, Bachanalia Chamber Orchestra in New York City and Capitol City Symphony in Washington DC.
